Arrive at the Entebbe International Airport and meet your driver/guide who will take you to Mount Elgon National Park, it is about 5-hour drive from Kampala. Check in at your preferred accommodation near the park. Relax and enjoy the views of the mountain and the surrounding countryside.

Mount Elgon Guest House: A cozy guest house with spacious rooms, hot showers, free Wi-Fi and a restaurant serving local and continental dishes. Located about 11 miles from the park entrance.
Mount Elgon Hotel and Spa: A luxury hotel with elegant rooms, a swimming pool, a spa, a gym and a conference centre. Located in Mbale town, about 40 miles from the park entrance.
Sipi Valley Resort: A charming resort with cottages overlooking the Sipi waterfalls, a bar, a restaurant and a coffee farm. Located near the park boundary, about 34 miles from the park entrance.
After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters and register for your hiking adventure. You can choose from different trails depending on your fitness level and interest. Some of the popular trails are:
Sasa Trail: The shortest and most direct route to the summit of Wagagai (4321m), the highest peak of Mount Elgon. It takes about 4 days to complete the round trip, but you can do a day hike to Mudange Cliffs (3000m), where you can enjoy spectacular views of the caldera and the plains below.
Sipi Trail: The longest and most scenic route to the summit of Mount Elgon. It takes about 7 days to complete the round trip, but you can do a day hike to Tutum Cave (2667m), where you can see a waterfall and rock paintings.
Piswa Trail: The gentlest and least crowded route to the summit of Mount Elgon. It takes about 6 days to complete the round trip, but you can do a day hike to Podocarpus Forest (3000m), where you can see rare plants and animals.
Along the way, you will encounter various vegetation zones, ranging from montane forest to moorland with giant lobelias and groundsels. You will also see wildlife such as monkeys, antelopes, buffaloes and elephants. You may also spot some of the over 300 bird species that inhabit the park, such as turacos, sunbirds and eagles. After your hike, return to your accommodation and relax.
After breakfast, check out of your accommodation and drive to one of the nearby villages where you can interact with the local communities that live on and around Mount Elgon. You can learn about their culture, history and livelihoods, as well as participate in some of their activities such as coffee farming, basket weaving or traditional dancing. You can also visit some of the attractions near the park such as;
Sipi Falls: A series of three waterfalls that cascade down the slopes of Mount Elgon. You can hike to the base of each waterfall or take a guided abseiling adventure down the cliffs.
Nyero Rock Paintings: A collection of ancient rock art dating back to over 3000 years ago. You can see geometric shapes, animals and human figures painted in red ochre on the rocks.
Kapkwai Forest Exploration Centre: A conservation education centre that offers guided nature walks, bird watching, butterfly identification and environmental education programs.
After your cultural encounter and sightseeing, drive back to Kampala or Entebbe for your onward flight or extension.
