Itinerary

Depart from Kampala in the morning and drive for about 4 hours to Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest of Uganda’s savanna parks. Check in at your preferred lodge or campsite and have lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Mburo, the largest of the five lakes within the park. You will see hippos, crocodiles, water birds and other wildlife along the shore. Return to your lodge or campsite for dinner and overnight.

You can choose from the following options:

Mihingo Lodge: A luxury lodge perched on a rocky hill overlooking the park and a waterhole. It has spacious tents with private bathrooms, balconies and solar power. It also has a swimming pool, a restaurant, a bar and a spa. It offers activities like horse riding, biking and cultural tours.

Rwakobo Rock: A mid-range lodge located 1 km from the park gate. It has cottages with private bathrooms, verandas and solar power. It also has a restaurant, a bar, a campfire and a hammock. It offers activities like walking safaris, night game drives and biking.

Eagle’s Nest Lodge: A budget lodge situated on a hill bordering the park. It has safari tents with eco-friendly toilets, bush showers and verandas. It also has a restaurant, a bar and a campfire. It offers views of the park and a true African experience.

Wake up early and go for a game drive in the park. You will see zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, giraffes and other animals. You may also spot some predators like leopards, hyenas and jackals.

Return to your lodge or campsite for breakfast and relax.

In the afternoon, go for a guided nature walk with an armed ranger. You will explore different habitats such as the savanna, the forest and the wetlands. You will also visit the salt lick, where animals come to lick the salty soil. Return to your lodge or campsite for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, check out of your lodge or campsite and drive to Igongo Cultural Centre, a historical showplace of the Banyakitara people who live in western Uganda. You will learn about their culture, history and traditions. You will also see their crafts, artifacts and costumes.

Have lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre and then drive back to Kampala. You may stop at the equator for some photos and souvenirs along the way.

Arrive in Kampala in the evening and end your trip.
