You will arrive at Entebbe International Airport and meet your driver/guide who will take you to Kidepo National Park, about 510 kilometres by road from Kampala. Along the way, you will enjoy the scenic views of the countryside, the Karamoja region and the wildlife.
You will check in at your chosen accommodation in or near the park, then have dinner and relax at your lodge, or enjoy a night game drive in the park to see some nocturnal animals.
Some of the options are:
Apoka Safari Lodge, an up-market lodge located inside the park, offering 10 luxury rooms with stunning views of the savannah and the wildlife.
Kidepo Savannah Lodge, a mid-range lodge located on the edge of the park, offering 12 safari tents and 9 non-self-contained tents with views of the Narus valley.
Zebra Safari Lodge, a budget lodge located near Karenga town, offering basic rooms and camping facilities.
Have an early breakfast and head to the park for a morning game drive where you will explore the two major valleys of the park, Kidepo and Narus. Here you will get to see a variety of animals such as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, foxes, antelopes and more. Also see some of the rare and endemic species that are only found in this park, such as the bat-eared fox, the striped hyena, the aardwolf, the caracal and the hunting dog. Return to your lodge for lunch and some rest.
In the afternoon, you will visit one of the nearby local communities, such as the Karamojong or the Ik people and learn about their culture, traditions, history and way of life and get to participate in some of their activities, such as dancing, singing, storytelling, cattle herding or honey harvesting. Then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Enjoy breakfast and then check out of your lodge. Embark on a bird watching tour in the park, where you will see some of the 470 bird species that are recorded here. Also see some of the birds that are unique to this park, such as the ostrich, the kori bustard, the pygmy falcon, the Abyssinian ground hornbill, the red and yellow barbet and more. Some of the migratory birds that visit the park seasonally, such as the white stork, the black stork and the lesser kestrel could also be seen. Stopover for lunch at a picnic site or a local restaurant.
Drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, stopping over at some craft shops along the way should you wish.
You will be dropped off at your hotel or airport for your onward flight.
