3 Day Kibale NP

Itinerary

Arrive at the Entebbe International Airport and meet your driver/guide who will take you to Kibale National Park, about a 5-hour drive from Kampala. Along the way, you will enjoy the scenic views of the countryside, the tea plantations and the Rwenzori Mountains. You will then check in at your chosen accommodation in or near the park. You will have dinner and relax at your lodge, or enjoy a night walk in the forest to see some nocturnal animals.

Some of the options are:

Primates Lodge, the only eco-lodge located inside the park, offering luxury, standard and tented cottages, as well as a sky tree house.

Ndali Lodge, a high-end lodge located on a rim above a crater lake, offering 8 luxury cottages with stunning views of the lake and the mountains.

Kibale Forest Camp, a tented camp near Bigodi Swamp, offering affordable safari-style tents and lazy camping on campsites.

You will have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. Then you will join a group of up to 8 people and follow a ranger guide into the forest to look for one of the habituated chimpanzee communities. Spend up to an hour observing these amazing primates in their natural habitat, as they feed, play, groom and communicate with each other.

You will return to your lodge for lunch and some rest.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Swamp, a wetland sanctuary that is home to over 200 bird species, as well as monkeys, otters, mongooses and bushbucks. Then take a guided walk along the boardwalks and trails, enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Have breakfast and check out of your lodge. Then embark on a crater lakes tour, exploring some of the beautiful lakes that were formed by volcanic activity in the area. See the Lake Nkuruba, Lake Nyinambuga, Lake Nyabikere and Lake Lyantonde, among others. Then have a chance to swim, canoe, hike or relax by the lakeshores.

Have lunch at a local restaurant or picnic site. Then drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, stopping over some craft shops along the way if you wish. You will then be dropped off at your hotel or airport for your upcoming flight.
